Tasting Notes

This Italian varietal is fairly rare in the Walla Walla Valley! Planted in 2010, this block in Dugger Creek Estate Vineyard consistently provides excellent fruit for our vineyard designate Barbera.

“The 2022 vintage is another stunning example of how beautiful Barbera can be in the New World.” – Richard Funk, Winemaker

This wine showcases a vibrant ruby red color. The aromas are immediately engaging with an abundance of red fruit. Notes of cherry, raspberry, and red currant lead the way. As the wine opens there are underlying tones of spice, including cinnamon and clove, as well as a faint hint of earthiness. Red fruit flavors of bright cherry and cranberry lead to layers of juicy red plum and a touch of black pepper, adding complexity.

Barbera is versatile with a variety of food and pairs wonderfully with grilled meats and vegetables, wood-fired pizza, tomato-based pasta dishes, or simply enjoy this delicious, satisfying wine while relaxing. Salute!
